FAQ: EP Student Orientation Course and Academic Ethics Assessment

Overview

You will be automatically enrolled in the EP Student Orientation course shortly after registering for your first course at Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals. This course can be accessed through Canvas. You will not be charged for this course and it cannot be applied to program requirements. If you happen to fail, you will have the opportunity to retake the course until you pass.

Passing the Academic Ethics Assessment in the EP Student Orientation course is required in order to access your Canvas course sites. If 100% has not been earned on the assessment, you will not see your enrolled courses in Canvas when you log in on the first day of term start.

If you do not have a passing score please take the quiz again.

I have completed the Orientation course, why don't I see my course?

Though you will have access to the Orientation after registering for your courses, the course sites will not appear in Canvas until the official start of the term. You can see the official term start dates on the Academic Calendar page of the EP website.

After the start of the term it can take up to 24 hours for your course sites to appear after completion of the Orientation.

I registered for a course with the Engineering for Professionals, why don't I see Orientation?

After registration it may take up to 24 hours for our systems to synchronize and display the Orientation course.

I have previously taken a course with Engineering for Professionals, do I still need to take the Orientation course?

In the past only some programs required the completion of the Academic Ethics Assessment. If you have previously taken and passed the Academic Ethics module you will not need to complete it again in the Orientation course.

You can check this by looking at your previously completed courses in SIS: https://uis.jhu.edu/sis-help-for-students/
