Taking a Proctored Exam via Zoom

Please refer to your instructor for specific exam instructions, as they may have additional requirements or guidelines.

Before the Exam

To ensure a smooth and secure testing experience, follow these steps before the exam begins:

  • Join Early: Log in to the Zoom meeting before the scheduled start time of your exam.
  • Audio & Video: Your microphone and camera must be turned on throughout the exam. All students must have a working webcam or a mobile device with a functioning camera.

Device Requirements

  • You may use a computer, tablet, or smartphone, as long as it allows your camera to stay on during the exam.
  • Disable virtual backgrounds in Zoom to ensure a clear and unobstructed view.
  • Plug in your device to avoid battery loss and ensure it stays powered during the entire exam.
  • Make sure your device has a strong and reliable internet connection.

Exam Environment

  • Choose a quiet room where you won’t be interrupted.
  • Your microphone will remain on, so avoid any background noise.
  • Silence or turn off other devices in the room (phones, smartwatches, etc.).
  • No phone calls or text messages are allowed during the exam.

Camera Positioning

  • Your webcam must show a full view of your work area, including your hands, at all times.
  • Make any necessary adjustments before the exam starts to meet this requirement.
