A phone or tablet can provide a convenient writing surface during a Zoom meeting. Use the Zoom Workplace mobile app to annotate shared content, or display work from an iPhone or iPad by sharing it through the Zoom Workplace desktop app.
Use the Zoom Workplace mobile app
- Download and install the Zoom Workplace mobile app.
- Open the app.
- Sign in to Zoom. For JHU account instructions, see the Zoom Quick Start Guide.
- Choose one of these options:
- Tap Start a Meeting to run the meeting from your mobile device.
- Tap Join to join a meeting running on your computer and use the mobile device to work with shared content.
- Tap Share and choose the content you want to share, such as your screen, a document, or a classic whiteboard.
- On Android, tap the pencil icon after sharing your screen to open the annotation tools. Tap the pencil icon again to close them.
Note: You cannot use Zoom's annotation tools while sharing your entire iOS screen. On an iPhone or iPad, annotate a classic whiteboard or supported shared content, or draw in another app and share the device through screen mirroring or a cable as described below. The meeting host can also disable participant annotation.
Wirelessly share an iPhone or iPad
Screen mirroring lets you draw in an app on an iPhone or iPad while using the computer's camera and microphone for the meeting.
- Connect the computer and iPhone or iPad to the same network. The network and computer firewall must allow AirPlay.
- Open Zoom Workplace on the computer and start or join a meeting.
- In the meeting controls, select Share Screen.
- Choose iPhone/iPad. Depending on your Zoom version, this option may appear as iPhone/iPad via AirPlay on the Advanced tab.
- Optional: Select Share sound to include audio from the mobile device.
-
Select Share.
- On the iPhone or iPad, swipe down from the upper-right corner to open Control Center.
-
Tap Screen Mirroring.
- Select Zoom-[your computer name] from the Screen Mirroring list.
The mobile device screen is now shared in the meeting. To stop sharing, tap Stop Mirroring on the iPhone or iPad or select Stop Share in the Zoom meeting controls.
Share an iPhone or iPad with a cable
Note: Wired sharing is available only on a Mac. Windows users must use wireless screen mirroring.
- Connect the iPhone or iPad to the Mac with a compatible cable.
- Start or join a Zoom meeting on the Mac.
- Select Share Screen.
-
Choose iPhone/iPad via Cable.
- Optional: Select Share computer sound to include audio from the mobile device.
- Select Share.
- If prompted on the mobile device, select Trust and enter its passcode.
The mobile device screen is now shared in the meeting.
