Textbook Adoption

The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) includes a textbook provision which states that students should have access to textbook information by the time registration opens. To help meet this need, we work with Follett to adopt and list our textbooks in their system, which is connected to the course schedule in SIS.

Course Schedule

Before the textbooks can be added in Follett, the courses and course sections need to be added to SIS. Once that is done and the Follett rep adds the courses to their database, an email will be sent to faculty to tell them how to adopt a textbook, and where to submit their information to Follett.

Adoption Process

The EP website has a Textbooks for Instructors page which includes basic information for faculty on how to adopt/select a textbook. JHU has partnered with Follett Higher Education for the Campus Store. EP faculty can now submit course adoptions directly through the Follett Discover tool.

Please Note: You must be assigned to a course in SIS for your data to populate in the system.

How to Adopt Materials:

  1. Access the Follett Discover Portal.
  2. Log in with your JHED credentials (JHEDID@jh.edu).
  3. Select your course and choose your materials.
