The Canvas Dashboard serves as the central hub where students and instructors can access course materials, assignments, and communication tools. The Canvas Dashboard is the first thing you will see upon logging into Canvas. By default, the Dashboard displays a set of course cards. These course cards represent a specific course and include information such as the course title and term. The course cards displayed on your Dashboard will be your active enrollments and courses you have favorited.
Accessing the Dashboard
You can access the Dashboard at any time by clicking on Dashboard on the global navigation menu.
Customizing the Dashboard
You can customize your Dashboard by choosing the order and color of your course cards. You can also change the display to List view. You can find additional information about customizing your Dashboard on the Canvas Support page, How do I use the Dashboard as a Student?
Selecting Favorite Courses
One Dashboard feature is using Course Favorites. The Course Favorites feature allows users to prioritize and easily access specific courses. You can favorite any published course that appears in the course list page under All Courses. When no courses are selected as favorites, the Courses List automatically displays up to 20 courses alphabetically in the drop-down menu. However, once you have selected at least one course as a favorite, only your favorite courses will appear in the Courses list.
To access a comprehensive list of all enrolled courses, users can navigate to the Courses tab in the global navigation menu. When clicking on Courses, a pull out menu will appear with an option at the top that reads All Courses.
Clicking on the All Courses page will list your courses in categories, making it easy to identify current enrollments, past enrollments, and future enrollments. To favorite a course select the star icon next to the course title. The star will then be colored in when a course is listed as a favorite.
